Get Skinny now! Lose weight fast! No exercise needed. Eat what you like!
These are a few of the top slogans that peak the interest of those of us wanting to love more the mirrored reflection of ourselves.
What’s wrong with these type of ads? It causes one to falsely believe that it is directly about the weight. The biggest lie of the century!
Your weight simply serves as the visible indication of your inner health (of course, this varies). If your extra weight had a voice, it would be saying ‘hey, there’s something wrong on the inside!’ Despite this, we continue to be drawn to using supplements and drugs as the answer to body fat.
I’m always asked what I do to maintain my weight and fit body. The truth is, I can do a lot more. However, over the years I’ve stopped sharing my secret. No one seemed quarter interested in doing the very thing that will help them be internally healthy- the source of outer beauty. They throw in the towel before even entering the game.
Few make the time to jog, walk a flight of stairs or elevator combo, park further away from the office or disembark one stop earlier to then walk. Yet we are forced to the Doctor, forced home with a medical condition. Few have money for a gym membership but can source the funds to dine out at fast food restaurants, order in food, buy the weight loss pills and pay for Hospital bills. A self-destructive cycle that we deny is happening.
Wake up and recognize that the source of goodness and good health is your ability to control your carnal urges for fat, sugar, salt, immobility and constant sleep.
Ok, so here’s the secret: Unprocessed foods, no added sugar, no fried foods, less salt, quiet time and fun-fitness activities. The need for labels, more than three basic ingredients, ingredients you can’t pronounce or those with #’s in them? – just stay away from it. Quite simple right? In fact, that’s my diet. It’s my way of eating but I am not “on a diet” as we sadly term it today.
Healthy living is not ‘a diet’, It’s a lifestyle with long-term plans and goals. If you have a special diet, that’s different.
Once you do the above, whatever ‘weight’ you arrive at is exactly where you should be. Don’t try to look like anyone else. Love the you that evolves after you’ve treated you right. Weight loss is a byproduct of good living.

Okay, so I graze like a cow!
This exact schedule may not work for you. And that’s alright. The key is to avoid at all costs any processed (e.g white flour/sugar), fried, sugary or salty foods. Drink more water and get your body moving.
All efforts = success, so don’t be the one to beat yourself up. Enjoy the journey.
Loved the line: “Healthy living is not ‘a diet’, It’s a lifestyle with long-term plans and goals.”
Very true; a truth that I’ve only recently discovered. It is a lifestyle, and in my case, a change must be had. I think that vegetables are of the Devil! So yes, I’ll have to find a routine that works for me. Drinking more water and taking the stairs at work is only the beginning…
Garvin! That’s the perfect beginning because those things (water and stairs) are always there.
You can also try juicing. One would rarely see me sitting eating a bowl of fruit so I completely understand. I much prefer to throw them in the blender. You’ll actually eat more fruits that way … sneak in a vegetable or two that way 🙂
